Example packet
Friday snack shack menu example
A concession chair prices pizza slices, water bottles, and chip bags with package costs, target margins, expected sales, and quarter-friendly rounding.
- $555.00 expected revenue.
- $305.00 expected profit.
- Three menu items priced with no current-price changes in the example.
Assumptions
What the numbers assume.
- Use item-level costs and expected sales, not buyer names, student private information, banking details, or vendor credentials.
- Package cost plus package units can estimate cost per sold item when a unit cost is not known.
- Blank numeric fields count as zero. Negative values are treated as zero and flagged for review.
- Target margin is capped below 100% because a 100% margin cannot produce a finite price.
- Food-safety, nutrition, allergy, tax, permit, school, district, and vendor rules stay outside this worksheet.
Formula notes
How the totals are calculated.
- If package cost and package units are entered, effective unit cost is package cost divided by package units. Otherwise the entered unit cost is used.
- Raw target price is effective unit cost divided by one minus target margin percent divided by 100.
- Recommended price rounds the raw target price up to the item rounding increment or the default rounding increment.
- Profit per item is recommended price minus effective unit cost. Item margin is profit per item divided by recommended price.
- Expected revenue and expected profit multiply recommended price and profit per item by expected sold units.
- Current price is optional and only used to show price-change notes.

Where to check the rules behind this worksheet
These references help set the worksheet's boundaries. Your current school, district, PTO/PTA, booster, treasurer, bank, and local procedures still come first.
- Local school, PTA/PTO, booster, district, bank, and food-safety procedures : Local rules and treasurer procedures are the source of truth.
- PTO Today free printables and templates
- Local school and food-handling requirements : Food safety and permits are local decisions, not calculator outputs.
